FAQ

"How does colon hydrotherapy work?"

A gentle flow of warm, filtered water is instilled into the colon via a disposable tube called a Speculum. The water softens and loosens the content of the colon and waste is expelled easily, comfortably and hygienically.

"Is colon hydrotherapy completely safe?"

Yes, with state of the art equipment, treatments are much safer than the common enema.

"How does a colon hydrotherapy treatment compare to an enema?"

An enema only reaches the rectum and the lower part of the colon whereas with colonic irrigation the large intestinal tract, which is approximately 6ft long, is reached. Colon hydrotherapy is many more times effective and is a superior treatment.

"Do colonic treatments hurt?"

No, in fact many people report their colonic hydrotherapy treatment as being both refreshing and relaxing. There should be no discomfort or soreness throughout the entire treatment.

"How much of the intestines are actually cleansed during a colonic hydrotherapy treatment?"

During a treatment it is possible for a professional colon therapist to cleanse the full length of the colon. The small intestines are not involved in the treatment.

"Should I see my doctor before my first colonic treatment?"

If you have a concern about your health you should see your doctor. If you are diagnosed with Diverticulitus, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's Disease, severe haemorrhoids or rectal or intestinal tumours you would not be a suitable candidate for colon hydrotherapy. Professionally administered colon hydrotherapy is safe and generally if you are free of the above conditions a medical examination should not be necessary.

"Is there a possibility of bacterial or viral contamination from the prior use of the colonic hydrotherapy machine?"

Our colonic hydrotherapy machine uses pre-sterilized, disposable tubes. These disposables are used only once during a single therapy session. Properly administered, there is no danger of contamination.

"How long does a treatment take?"

On a first colonic you should expect to be with the colonic therapist for 1 hour. Your medical history and the colonic procedure are also discussed.

"Is there a special kind of water used for colonic hydrotherapy?"

Highly filtered water, which passes through 3 seperate filters before being heated to the correct temperature. This kind of water is capable of absorbing and flushing more toxins out of the colon because of its drawing effect on solid particles, chemicals and other matter. Tap water is not used because it already has numerous chemicals.

"Will it be ok to eat after the colonic?"

We suggest you eat lightly after your colonic treatment. Certain foods such as pork, ham, bacon pasta and white bread can be too harsh for your body to break down. Eating a meal that is known to cause trouble in your abdomen directly after a colonic is not the wisest choice. Salads, vegetables and soups are the best options.

"Will one colonic completely empty the colon?"

Almost never. Firstly many of us have a considerable amount of compacted faeces in our colon. This is a hardened or rubbery-like material. Substantial work must be done to remove it. Secondly, the more relaxed you are during the treatment, the easier it is for material to release. One colonic will remove some of the stagnant waste in the colon. The second and subsequent colonics will remove more. Your therapist will advise accordingly during your first initial treatment.

"How will I know when the colon is empty?"

It will probably never be completely empty, as it is an organ in continuous use. As more of the old, compacted material is released you will actually feel the water enter higher regions of the colon without any sense of obstruction. The objective should not be an empty colon but rather a well functioning colon.

"Will a colonic clear up my skin?"

Your skin actually 'breathes' and is an important organ involved in the elimination of waste material. Sometimes, if the colon, liver or kidneys are functioning poorly, the skin will be required to make up the difference. The likes of breakouts on the skin may occur due to toxins being released. Cleansing and healing of the colon will often clear the skin of these breakout
